As an authentic Sichuan native, Engineer Pan has an outgoing personality and loves to share delicious food. He is also a resident engineer of MCBS Operation Department, and has been on duty since the launch of the track vehicle system of Meishan People's Hospital in July 2020.

Every project requires accumulated effort over time. For the past three years, he and his team have been working diligently in various departments 24 hours per day. Today, let's follow Pan's perspective to explore the logistics system construction of this hospital.

Hospital Overview

At present, Meishan Hospital of Sichuan University is a national Grade 3A general hospital in Meishan City. The hospital covers a total area of 218.221 acres, with 1199 designated beds and 1620 open beds.

As usual, Pan arrived at the monitoring and scheduling center at 7:30 am to start the day's maintenance work. Before the staff of the pharmacy began their peak work, Pan had already allocated the vehicles from the garage to the pharmacy station, and the cars were waiting for instructions at any time to avoid "peak congestion"

At 8 o'clock, Pan carefully checked that all the cars were running normally and began patrolling various stations, especially the laboratory and inpatient pharmacy that received and sent frequently. At the same time, medical staff were already very busy. There are currently 46 cars in the hospital, including 23 specialized cars for the laboratory, 22 normal cars, and 1 cleaning car. Each car runs in an orderly manner on its own specific track.

Professional materials protection No operational concerns

Three years ago, when Track Vehicle System was first put into operation, Medical staff expressed concerns. When the cars was overturned, they were worried that the test specimens would spill during cars’traveling. Pan patiently filmed the entire process of material packaging, loading, and departure from other hospitals, and then personally trained and demonstrated the standardized material placement method to medical staff, gradually dispelling their doubts.

Track Vehicle System professional safety protection device, which is equipped with a retractable multi-stage adjustable material-press plate, can flexibly adjust the space inside the box by using its own retractable structure, and the material of EV foam cotton gives the test sample the most suitable protection; Full size test tube plug board, capable of accommodating 180 test tubes. Pendulum bracket ensures that the test specimen is always in a horizontal state during traveling.

The car is equipped with an infrared anti-collision and collision energy absorption device. When the distance between the two cars measured by the front and rear infrared sensors is less than the set safety value, an emergency stop will be triggered. To prevent the car from "rear-end collision". The cars can stop stably without touching each other.

From the operational data, the total number of times the rail car operates per month is over 20000, and the top five stations with the highest number of departures are: Laboratory (only receiving, not sending), Inpatient Pharmacy, Emergency Department, Logistics Department, and Nephrology Department. The peak departure time for the stations in the inpatient ward in the afternoon is concentrated between 3 and 4 o'clock, as there are patients who are temporarily hospitalized and have sudden symptoms that require timely delivery of materials. The sample size for testing has decreased, but the frequency of departure is more frequent than in the morning. With the logistics system, samples are immediately sent away without having to accumulate a pile of samples. Previously, we had to call support personnel to collect them, and they would work across departments, making it difficult to estimate the time lost on the way. The intelligent logistics system is very certain on time use, and it takes a few minutes from the ward to the laboratory. 

Based on the actual needs of domestic hospitals, the loading capacity has become an important factor in measuring the practicality of track vehicle system. MCBS is equipped with a 30Kg/46L ultra large capacity wide box, which is twice the carrying capacity of similar products on the market, achieving the upper limit of single carrying capacity.

The application of HP2.0 hybrid dual drive technology reduces the problem of "power outage" of cars, which is in line with the trend of green energy in industrial products and reduces the concerns of medical personnel; Innovative copper-rail-free design on the main road，which reduces driving noise by 34%, creating a quiet and comfortable treatment environment.

The COVID-19 epidemic was encountered after the system was launched, and everyone was more sensitive to the cross infection. The car body was made of antibacterial ABS materials, and the box was equipped with a standard UV disinfection device. The car body and shaft disinfection system can be adjustable, greatly reducing the risk of cross infection. At the same time, medical personnel disinfect and wipe cars’surface every day.

At present, the MCBS second-generation rail car system carried by Meishan People's Hospital belongs to a purely independent intellectual property research and development product. The system is more stable and reliable, and the product supply chain is more mature. Compared to European and American manufacturers, the replacement cycle of spare parts is shorter, and the large capacity of 46L can better meet the actual needs of hospitals.

Pan visits the stations everyday to understand the usage and after-sales issues of each department. The equipment is maintained up to 30 times a month and cleaned car-body over 70 times. The patrol area covers 25 areas, providing the most comprehensive logistics support for the normal operation of the Track Vehicle System.

MCBS has adhered to the on-site rule of project operation engineers provide technical assistance online 24 hours a day, respond to customer requests and issues within an average of 10 minutes during normal working hours, and troubleshoot any issues within 30 minutes.
