New action!

China Health Commission Releases New "3 Years Action Plan".

All levels medical institutions welcome new tasks in nursing services.

It's about improving the quality of healthcare!

The Action Plan clearly states: "To implement a responsibility based holistic nursing service, nurses should provide patients with physical and mental nursing services such as medical care, observation, assistance in treatment, health guidance, and humanistic care based on their disease characteristics, physiological, psychological, and social needs. By 2025, all levels and types of medical institutions will have a responsibility based holistic nursing 100% coverage of the hospital's wards.

Also requires: Strengthen the support of information technology. Through the construction of smart hospitals, improve logistics support systems, help service personnel responsible for sample collection, medication, and patient daily testing in the ward, ensure that the equipment and facilities required for clinical nursing work always ready and maintained in a timely manner. Departments such as PIVAS and disinfection supply centers receive and deliver materials to the ward, reduce nurses' involvement in non-nursing work, and maximize their investment in bed care services.

How to implement effective measures? Let's take a look at how this hospital promotes the development of nursing informatization and improves the high-quality nursing services.

It is understood that the First People's Hospital of Anning City, has been using the MCBS SmaTruck Track Vehicle System since 2014. The hospital has set up a total of 30 stations and 57 vehicles. The system is centrally controlled by the computer, using a 30KG medium-sized vehicle as the carrier, and using horizontal and vertical tracks to achieve automated transfer of daily materials between clinical and major medical department stations such as inpatient pharmacies, PIVAS, laboratory, disinfection supply centers, and nursing units in each ward. The system has stable running, and has been deeply integrated into the daily operation of the hospital, which has had a positive impact on nursing work.

Efficiency: Win the Time

The nurse is very busy, but is she busy in the right process? The nursing work still focuses on assisting with treatment and nursing operations. However, according to the records of a thesis, non nursing workload accounts for 16%. Among them, field works such as receiving items and delivering blood samples take an average of (13 ± 2) minutes per person per shift, accounting for about 26% of the non nursing workload. Indirect nursing workload and non nursing workload account for 50% of the total nursing workload. To solve this contradiction, the application of logistics systems in hospitals is a "good helper".

In the nursing station, nurses mainly use Track Vehicle System to solve the problem of material delivery in these three aspects: firstly, sending blood samples from hospitalized patients to the laboratory; The second is to receive long-term medical orders from PIVAS and inpatient pharmacy; The third is to receive temporary medical orders. (Except for precious drugs, first aid drugs, and narcotics). Other consumables are replenished and delivered by the supplier once a week/multiple times.

Rights and responsibilities: reducing errors

According to authoritative research institutions abroad, 35% of doctors' errors can be detected by pharmacists, and 20% of pharmacists' errors can be detected by nurses. Nurses are the final executors of medical orders, and who should correct nurses' errors?

Track Vehicle System can effectively reduce the error rate of nurses in the material delivery process. The logistics system has optimized the item delivery process and comes with applications such as encrypted departure, permission recognition, and data recording, making it more direct and faster, reducing the occurrence of nursing accidents caused by communication errors (such as sending to the wrong destination, not delivering in a timely manner, etc.), or nurses' own errors (such as filling errors, incomplete filling, drug loss, etc.).

Safety: reducing risks

As long as there is medical behavior, there is a risk of hospital infection. Strengthening prevention and risk control is an important measure to reduce the occurrence of hospital infections. In terms of internal logistics delivery, the hospital adopts fully enclosed track transportation, which reduces the opportunities for direct contact between people and items, and effectively controls cross infection within the hospital; On the transport carrier, according to the "Biosafety Cabinet" standard, specific and sealed small cars are used to classify and transport medical supplies. The exterior of the car is made of antibacterial ABS material and antibacterial coating, and the interior is equipped with ultraviolet disinfection devices as standard. Additionally, the car body and shaft disinfection system can be optional, with four-fold sensing intelligent desigto meet hospital safety standards.

Practice has proven that logistics systems is a necessity for the development of nursing disciplines and an important part of hospital reform. Its application has many roles and benefits for hospitals in nursing efficiency, rights and responsibilities, safety, etc. It can enhance nursing and medical service quality, liberate labor, strengthen treatment capabilities, improve nursing environment, increase patient satisfaction, and promote the development of nursing service.
